About LCTA
OUR MISSION IS TO CREATE AND ENHANCE MOUNTAIN BIKING OPPORTUNITIES IN NORTH IDAHO.
Unfortunately, trails don’t build themselves. Luckily, Lake City Trail Alliance is here to support the growth and maintenance of our mountain biking trails. In 2010, a group of local mountain bikers and volunteers came together and began to coordinate trail work with the goal of planning, building, and maintaining new trails. Our first project was working with the City of Coeur d'Alene on the Canfield Natural Area. Soon after, we formed a partnership with the Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management so that we can continue to provide the best trail experiences to our community.
As we look towards the future and the growth of the mountain biking community within Couer D’Alene and the surrounding areas, we have identified needs within our community:
Building Trails: Creating new trails not only expands the opportunities for riders but also contributes to the overall appeal of the region for mountain biking enthusiasts. Varied trail difficulty levels can cater to a wide range of skill sets, making the area more accessible to different riders.
Buying Trail Building Equipment: Investing in proper equipment is crucial for efficient trail construction and maintenance. This includes tools for clearing vegetation, shaping the terrain, and establishing sustainable paths that minimize environmental impact.
Maintaining Trails: Regular maintenance is essential for the longevity and safety of trails. This involves addressing erosion, clearing debris, and ensuring trail signage is in good condition. Regular maintenance contributes to a positive user experience and promotes trail sustainability.
Building Parking Lots: Adequate parking facilities are vital for accommodating the growing number of mountain bikers. Well-designed parking lots enhance accessibility and convenience for trail users, encouraging more people to explore the trails.
Purchasing Proper Restrooms: Access to proper restroom facilities is a key aspect of providing a positive outdoor experience and is required by our government partners for trailheads to be officially opened. Working With BLM & Forest Service strengthens our mission and ensures a coordinated effort in managing and developing trail systems.
Join us in building and maintaining trails, acquiring essential equipment, and fostering a vibrant biking community. Together, we can create lasting outdoor enjoyment and sustainable trail systems. Your contribution, whether through time, resources, or advocacy, helps shape a thriving and accessible mountain biking landscape for our community.
